David and Rosalind Katz, owners of My Friend’s Place, opened the first location in Sandy Springs, Georgia in 1980. Recognizing the area’s need for a restaurant that would provide fast, healthy meals, they began with a simple menu of homemade Egg, Chicken and Tuna Salads. The name was chosen in appreciation of their friends’ ongoing support and generosity during the creation of the concept, and also to reflect the comfortable and inviting atmosphere of the restaurant.
Three years later, the Katz’s opened a second location, which was a huge step toward the growth of the company. By 1990, the couple owned six locations throughout the metro Atlanta area and, based on the success of the concept and the desire to maintain a high level of service, they turned to franchising.
Although the company has experienced significant growth, it continues to operate on the ideals established by the owners. The Katz’s believe that a healthy lifestyle should involve exercising regularly and eating a balanced diet that includes a variety of natural foods.
The menu has evolved throughout the years to include pitas, wraps and club sandwiches, all of which are made with fresh and wholesome ingredients to promote the ideals of a healthy lifestyle. Based on the belief that everything is okay in moderation, My Friend’s Place also serves homemade desserts and pastries.
